Shang Xinjian, born in 1953, is a professor and Ph.D. supervisor. He holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Peking University (2000). He is currently the Party Committee Secretary and Deputy Director of the department, as well as the Director of the Foreign Philosophy Research Institute, a key research base for humanities and social sciences designated by the Ministry of Education at Peking University. His research areas include Western Philosophy History and Modern Western Philosophy.
