Xianghua Ying is a professor and a doctoral supervisor. He is also a recipient of the Excellent Young Scientist Fund from the National Natural Science Foundation of China and a Peking University Boya Young Scholar. He obtained his Ph.D. in Pattern Recognition and Intelligent Systems from the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2004. He joined the Department of Intelligent Science and Technology at Peking University in the same year. From 2007 to 2008, he was a visiting scholar in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Southern California. His research work mainly focuses on computer vision, pattern recognition, and augmented reality. His individual papers have been cited over 1400 times on Google Scholar. He has applied for 15 related invention patents, of which 8 have been granted. He is a committee member of the Artificial Intelligence and Pattern Recognition Professional Committee of the China Computer Federation, a committee member of the Computer Vision Professional Committee of the China Computer Federation, and a member of the Beijing Artificial Intelligence Society.
