Dr. Huang Tao is a researcher, and Ph.D. supervisor. He is a Young Changjiang Scholar appointed by the Ministry of Education and a Boya Young Scholar at Peking University. He works in the Department of Epidemiology and Health Statistics, the Key Laboratory of Molecular Cardiovascular Sciences of the Ministry of Education, and the Center for Intelligent Public Health Research at Center for Intelligent Public Health, Peking University. He graduated from Zhejiang University/Tufts University Human Nutrition Research Center in 2011, obtaining his doctoral degree through a joint training program supported by a national scholarship. From 2012 to 2015, he conducted postdoctoral research at the Department of International Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, the Department of Nutrition at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and the Department of Epidemiology at the Tulane University School of Public Health. In 2016-2017, he was appointed as a tenure track assistant professor and doctoral supervisor at the Department of Epidemiology and the School of Medicine at the National University of Singapore.
His research focuses on the epidemiology of chronic diseases and the application of machine learning in the field of public health. His main research findings have been published in journals such as BMJ, Diabetes Care, PLOS Medicine, Annals of Neurology, Diabetes, AJCN, and JAMA Network Open. He has received awards such as the Young Scientist Award from the International Society of Nutrigenomics and Nutrigenetics in 2011, the Scott Grundy Best Research Award from the American Heart Association in 2015 and 2016, the Early Career Travel Grant from the International Congress of Nutrition in 2017, the Young Scholar of the "Chang Jiang Scholars Program" from the Ministry of Education in 2019, and the Boya Young Scholar from Peking University in 2019.
Huang Tao serves as a statistical editor for the SCI journal Asia Pacific Journal of Clinical Nutrition, an associate editor for Lipids in Health and Disease, and a guest editor for the journals Journal of Diabetes Research and Diseases Marker. He has participated as a lead expert in the writing of the "Outline of the National Medium- and Long-Term Science and Technology Development Plan 2021-2035". He is also a standing director of the Dietary Nutrition and Health Sub-Committee of the Chinese Health Association, a director of the Epidemiology Sub-Committee of the Chinese Nutrition Society, a director of the Food and Culinary Nutrition Sub-Committee of the Chinese Nutrition Society, a youth member of the Epidemiology Sub-Committee of the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association, a communication editor of the Chinese Journal of Epidemiology, and a deputy director of the Expert Committee on Fishery Nutrition and Health of the China Fisheries Association.
