Chen Yao is currently the Director of the Medical Statistics Department at Peking University First Hospital and also serves as the Deputy Director of the Clinical Research Institute at Peking University. He holds various academic positions, including Chairperson of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association Evidence-Based Medicine Professional Committee, Deputy Chairperson of the Chinese Society of Health Statistics Statistical Theory and Methods Professional Committee, Vice President of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies Real-World Research Professional Committee, Deputy Chairperson of the Wu Jieping Foundation Tumor Medical Department, Visiting Professor at the National Medical Products Administration Senior Training Institute, and Expert in the CFDA Drug/Device Evaluation Expert Pool. He is also the Head of the Expert Group for Real-World Data Research in the Boao Lecheng Pilot Zone.
His research focuses on data management and statistical analysis methods applied in clinical research. He pioneered the concept of a universal management process for clinical research source data in hospitals. He has been actively involved in educating and training in clinical research design and has collaborated with clinical doctors on numerous clinical research projects involving new drugs, medical devices, and investigator-initiated studies.
